Specifically for hosting the Moldova Open ATP Challenger 100 tournament, a summer complex of seven clay courts is being constructed at the National Tennis Center of Moldova.
One of them will become the central court with spectator stands, where the grand opening of the National Tennis Center will take place on May 23, featuring legends of world tennis — 🇷🇴 Simona Halep and 🇦🇷 Juan Martín del Potro.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, the international Moldova Open ATP Challenger 100 tournament will begin on the center’s courts.
Construction work is in an active phase. The courts are being built with the involvement of specialists working at the Mutua Madrid Open, and the clay surface has been specially imported from Italy — similar to the one used on the courts of Roland Garros.
Recently, the progress of construction was inspected by the President of the Moldovan Tennis Federation, Ceslav Chukhrii, along with federation representatives. Following a meeting with contractors, it was confirmed that the facility will be fully ready by May 1.
The National Tennis Center will provide all the conditions necessary for players to train and compete at a high professional level.
We eagerly await the athletes and are confident that spectators are in for a bright and exciting week of tennis.
Information about ticket sales for the exhibition match featuring Del Potro and Halep will be announced additionally.
We are waiting for everyone in Moldova!
